Iran Rules
Those are the basic rules of the war currently raging, a war we refuse to see, except for those—also mostly invisible to leaders and pundits–on the battlefield. But their budget is getting slashed and burned, their esprit de corps is threatened by a new anthropological experiment putting more women in battle, and the pols and pundits don’t know much of anything about military virtue.
Indeed it seems Obama doesn’t even want to give them a few minutes at the policy table. After all, they just work for him, right?
It’s very disappointing and very scary. If you wanted to create a strategy to lose the Real War, you’d be hard pressed to do better.

Another update with spotless purity, for all to read, in order to be aware of the Iranian problem—thanks.
The jaw-jaw crowd is in charge.
An old song’s lyrics come to my mind—“Let’s get physical, physical—–”
Well, the mind-body split in the “highly evolved” Western civilizations continues to be understood as the “Let’s get mental, mental—-“ emphasis, almost completely eschewing the physical.
Too many out-of-touch minds, floating around, who’ve been led to dump the body, except for the pleasurable self-indulgent activities, especially eating.
Ah, the amazing book, “The Brilliant Function of Pain”, by Milton Ward, applies. It’s about pain, the messenger, for individuals. But, I think we can extend the painful message to whole societies, and America is surely suffering heap big pain, due to the crazy religious fanatics in Iran, and in fact the whole Islamic brainwashed crowd.
By the most Enlightening way, the really big revelation for me is the claim that Mohammed never even existed. Now, there’s a painful truth, for Moslems to eventually deal with!
Oh well—Christians once quarreled over how many angels could dance on a pinhead, n’est pas? So, why shouldn’t Moslems get to engage in their own useless mind games?
Another paradox revisits my consciousness—
Actions speak louder than words.
The pen is mightier than the sword.
Quibble on, McDuff!
Michael, it looks like the Western world had better take eggs of the basket labelled, “US”, and place them elsewhere to deal with the situation you correctly analyze.
I send in comments via disqus.com under the handle of Luxius, (I love the 2 anecdotes that I know about Diogenes), and I thought you would want to see the analysis of one of Margaret Thatcher’s lieutenants of those seeking the Republican Presidential Nomination this year: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/normantebbit/100160873/if-nick-clegg-is-so-keen-to-defend-democracy-why-isnt-he-focusing-on-the-echr-instead-of-the-lords/
Plus, what do you make of the letters which appeared in the National Post today, regarding what ought to be done in the Middle East: http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/05/28/todays-letters-fixing-the-middle-east-in-75-words-or-fewer/
Internationalist subversive Barak Obama, mission accomplished !
Grim prospects, indeed, given the fact that Obama-ayers Big Media (BM) largely control every aspect of the “news” we simple peasants are allowed to have.
Abominable and contemptible seem to be a wholly inadequate words to describe this vicious, lying racist and all his works. It’s scary to contemplate that this degenerate twit has set all the ponderous wheels in motion to destroy our country, possibly even all of Western Civilization.
Even if we vote to rid our wonderful land of this plague in November, the damage may be irreversible.
Michael, have you had the chance to visit the American Cemetery outside Florence or at Anzio during your stays in Italy?
Michael, the recent discussion of putting women closer within the combat arms (even Ranger training, hah!) has this old Ranger ready to chew nails. God bless the departed Col. Hackworth and his description of many of our current general corps as “perfumed princes of the Pentagon.” General Odierno, we know “what” you are.
Anyone willing to do the bidding of Obama’s political cronies and supporters to wreak further havoc on our military to further their own careers makes me contemptuous. It will take a major war and the possible loss of our beloved freedom someday at the hands of a strong enemy(s) to make this country come to its senses.
Mohammedan morals consist in prostrate like bowing 5 times a day in the general direction of some black stone in Mecca that is suppose to have fallen down from their moon-god, Allah, and attending mosque regularly at the appointed weekly time, and in breaking the ten commandments all the balance of the week. It comes natural to them to lie and cheat and kill and enslave in the first place, and then they go on and improve on that nature until they arrive at perfection. I never did dislike anyone as much as those Muslims and especially those blood thirsty mullahs in Iran, and, when Israel is pushed to war with them, I hope America and England and France will not find it good breeding nor good judgment to interfere.
The mercurial French can be counted on to be eloquently…..mercurial. That is to say, we can’t count on them for much of anything substantial, regardless, or, especially because of their currently elected president.
The British are preoccupied with a generalized lack of money and resources; diverting much of what they have remaining to financing their Queen’s Jubilee celebrations next week, probably leaving their Armed Forces with budget problems for sometime to come. Besides, their own large immigrant Muslims are effectively a Fifth Column up to we-don’t-know-what-but-it-won’t-be-good. It’s safe to assume that they’ll be standing by with their own ethnic “reserves” to rise up at opportunistic intervals with Underground Tube Bombings and riots. That’s mercurial situation #2.
Those of us Americans of a certain age may remember the Hungarian uprising (1957?) where we stood by and let slip an opportunity to help out these anti-communists during our often tense Cold War. Eisenhower doubtless had good reasons, taking all the bad scenarios into account. And….he had the obvious military background to make decisions of that nature.
Okay, now it’s 2012 and we have…..the National Chameleon Barack Hussein Obama….sitting at the desk in the Oval Office with no absolutely no background in anything at all……and..it’s election Time. John Foster Dulles is long gone. Henry Kissinger is retired. Forget the opportunistic and ambitious Hillary Clinton. She simply doesn’t belong where she is. Totally out of place. That summarizes mercurial situation #3.
So, tragically, it seems that the brave enough Iranians to try to stage a coup even with their expatriate’s assistance will not be successful, at most creating an even more entrenched and rigid Islamist/Sharia government.
My own hope is that we’re privately stockpiling materiel with the Israeli’s so they can operate effectively with our clandestine special forces or airborne refueling tankers and not have to rely on Obama’s hour by hour involvement. We’ve got capable professionals who ought to be given a quiet long leash. Obama should simply get out of the way.
Recently a senior commander in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has admitted officially that Iranian forces are operating in Syria in support of Bashar al-Assad’s regime without any interference according to his claim. He also pointed out that Iran does not meddle in Syrian affairs, but would support Damascus which is a fighting front-line against Zionist regime since one of Iran’s doctrines is Palestine’s issue.
“Hezbollah fighters and Iran’s Revolutionary Guard” an terrorist brigades who specializes in assassination and bombings, today they are present on Syrian territories fighting alongside al-Assad regime forces in suppressing the Syrian revolution and in the slaughter of the Syrian people. They commit horrifying massacres every day. But the biggest partner in that massacres is, Mr. Obama.
When we talk about the opposition or arming of the opposition. Are they those who are called to a secular free state? or does mean those Islamists “MB”? or the foreign jihadis?
In fact the situation has become disordered in Syria. Today, a combination of foreign jihadis from many Arab nationalities who are likely linked to al-Qaida have joined the Free Syrian Army “the rebels”. These fighters are receiving financial support from some oil-rich Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Libya.
I do not believe that they are fighting only to overthrow Al-Assad’s regime, but for religious belief…these fundamentalist Islamist groups do not represent the true opposition. They are more dangerous than the authoritarian regimes…they are fighting for a religious purpose because they belong to puritanical Salafi doctrine calls for jihad against the Zionists and Crusaders…Their battle today is against Shia, because they consider Shiites are their enemy as apostates from Islam..so, when their thorn get strong enough, it will be hard to face them, their battle later will be against the infidels and their interests in the region. SO, SOONER RATHER THAN LATER!!!
An interesting juxtaposition: concern for women in Afghanistan and women in battle (as if they weren’t already).
What a piece of crap article, more war propaganda!
It is funny everyone became a political analyst such as Bessie (historian too) and who is name is Jassem, what a piece of shit both of you!
You’ve done a brilliant job of carefully refuting the arguments made with your own well-chosen facts and meticulous reasoning and I am now persuaded that I am wrong.
Oh wait, that was another reply. All you did was launch an hominem attacks on two of your fellow posters. Nice job!
Also, may I point out that you violated at least two of the guidelines that appear at the beginning of every comment section, namely guidelines 1 and 3, which ask us not to use profanity and avoid ad hominem attacks.
I am also convinced. The Iranian government’s blogging corps has outdone itself once again in the person of ‘Steve.’
Or, Steve may be a freelancer, in which case he should seek immediate remuneration. Perhaps the Iranian ‘defense minister’ – as far as I know wanted by Interpol for the destruction of about 150 lives in Argentina in 1994 – can award Steve a medal. He could call it the ‘Tlas Medal’ after former Syrian ‘defense minister’ Mustafa Tlas, who awarded one of the highest honors of the Syrian nation to some Moroccan volunteers reported to have committed acts of cannibalism after helping to murder 47 (?) Israeli prisoners of war in 1973.
Really, Steve has a bright flaming future. Michael, please consider Steve for an internship, at least.
“War propaganda.” You’ve obviously never read anything Michael Ledeen has written about Iran.
Steve, your style in debate with the others is a great!?,,has painted with feature of decency and politeness…
First I would like to tell you that, I am here on this great site, NOT in the position of analyst or the like…I just write my view and I am glad I can freely express my opinions here, which I cannot do it in our world or in our complicit media. On the other hand, we are fighting, we are at war with evil regimes. We fighting for our freedom, and for the right of life. I think you feel the taste and flavor of Freedom How it is so great and beautiful. Isn’t it?!
,Second, it is not a war propaganda, it’s a Real War, and you have to win it. You are at war with them for more than thirty years. if you will get out of their way, they will not get out of your way “the infidel Great Satan”, you know!?
Today they are committing the most heinous atrocities against their own people, indifferent to the demands of international community, and tomorrow, they will escalate this war against you and will reach you at home just when they possess nuclear weapons. Because their sacred dirty goal is to destroy the Great Satan and wipe Israel off the map. this is an irrevocable thing in the belief of the Iranian regime because it is an important part of the evil nature of the Iranian regime and of any other radical Islamist regime.
The Pulitzer Committee is surely drafting a new category award for “Expletives: Pithy Phrasing Division”, inside sources tell me that you’re a contender.
The situation with Iran we refuse to recognize is that it is part of Islam’s struggle with the West which has been going on for a thousand years. It also is evocative of the similar Greek-Persian wars of ancient times. To end, one side will have to crush the other. The West, enthralled with political correctness, refuses to muster the will to do this. Thus, we fight limited wars peripheral to Iran in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Iran long ago declared war upon us. We should return the favor, and then cut the Gordian knot by destroying it.
Iran has never declared war on the west. In fact, the immediate victims of the war you are alluding to are the people of Iran themselves who are continuously on the receiving end of the vicious Islamic barbarity levied on them with brutal regularity. Destroy the Iranian people and you will have destroyed the only real allies of the west in the region outside of Erez Israel. Help the Iranian people materially, technologically and morally and they will do the job for you. Don’t ever confuse the Iranian people with the bloodthirsty Islamic totalitarians who are sucking the life blood out of my people.
why do people always try to separate the present Iranian government from the Iranian people who have chosen this government to replace the shah?
And this is the first time in history that a people have been duped into believing in promises of egalite, fraternite et liberte only to replace a Sun King with a Robespierre? A Batista with a Castro? A Nicholas with Lenin, Trotsky and Dzerzhinsky? Or even a Bush with Obama? Fortunately for us all in the latter case the historical anomaly can be corrected at the ballot box. In Iran anyone wishing to correct the error of 1979 is murdered.
No mention of the covert war?
Wired magazine reports on “Flame”, the most complicated spyware ever created.
“Stuxnet and Duqu belonged to a single chain of attacks, which raised cyberwar-related concerns worldwide,” said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and co-founder of Kaspersky Lab, in a statement. “The Flame malware looks to be another phase in this war, and it’s important to understand that such cyber weapons can easily be used against any country.”
Early analysis of Flame by the Lab indicates that it’s designed primarily to spy on the users of infected computers and steal data from them, including documents, recorded conversations and keystrokes. It also opens a backdoor to infected systems to allow the attackers to tweak the toolkit and add new functionality.
The malware, which is 20 megabytes when all of its modules are installed, contains multiple libraries, SQLite3 databases, various levels of encryption — some strong, some weak — and 20 plug-ins that can be swapped in and out to provide various functionality for the attackers. It even contains some code that is written in the LUA programming language — an uncommon choice for malware.
Kaspersky Lab is calling it “one of the most complex threats ever discovered.”
We not not know exactly who is operating Flame but the infected computers all seem to be in Iran, Lebanon and the West Bank. The program contains a self destruct mechanism so those infected may never know.
It is always entertaining to poke fun at some of the more clumsy Iranian attempts at this game. On Iranian TV couple of weeks ago they published an Israeli passport supposedly held by the “Mossad Spy” they executed to quell rumors that he was not a spy at all. The passport was a copy from a wikipedia page and the forgery is laughable.

The world leaders engaged in talks with Iran, are not really interested in stopping Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons. They are only interested in presenting the appearance of addressing the problem, knowing full well that talk will fail, and that the Iranians are only killing time, until they have the bomb. The world’s display of weakness, only emboldens the Iranians, and their war against us will only escalate when they have nuclear weapons.
It’s another Neville Chamberlain, “Peace in our Time” moment.
Excellent analysis Michael. As said long ago, our corrupt world leaders with the demand and blessing of oil companies do whatever they can to keep the barbarian Islamic regime along with its troll Assad regime in power. That’s the only way they can safe guard their petrodollar profits at the same time the “so called leaders only on papers” save their dumb face as long as they stay in power. They have no stomach after all with a major strategic change in a country like Iran even if it is going to change for better the security of our dangerous world.
It is such as a crooked corrupt world we live in with Western masses deep in the dark and our oppressed masses worldwide totally ignored and helpless.
The end of times may be near one way or another.. who knows?
Or who is going to be our savior from the world mafia regime???
Michael I think “Steve” should be banned from commenting here. His comment is totally baseless and most importantly inappropriate and rude.
Thanks!
Methinks we’re seeing a case of CUI (Commenting Under the Influence). It’s about as random and unintelligible as drunk-dialing or drunk-texting.
Glad to see you still recognize freedom of speech. Oh, wait, no…
Steve said: “what a piece of shit both of you!” and Guest on his behalf said: “Glad to see you still recognize freedom of speech. Oh, wait, no…”
Guest, Please read before you make any comment! Oh wait no…
The left is notorious for not ever reading, just like drunk drivers they lash back, hit the walls, be reactionaries and make inflammatory comments! After all there is no hard work involved in doing so and they would still feel empowered for have something to say!
ML:
“Meanwhile, those seeking freedom in the region are being sacrificed.”.
Well said and that is exactly the what the people in Iran and elsewhere in that region believe. But the people also concluded that the West doesn’t care. Europe has had complete economical relationship with IR of terrorist, and more or less they still have, although, China is now milking Iran more. West can stop China, but it doesn’t. Then, how the sanction can be effective? It is a myth and and a big lie.
Khomeinists have done all kinds of atrocities against Iranian people and despite all the reports and call for help by Iranian people, no result. The IR of terrorists are doing exactly the same in Syria, and constantly telling Assad’s killers, see what happen to opposition in Iran. We silenced them, and arrest and kill all involve. Obama said nothing and so was the case with the other leaders Western world.
In addition with the amount of money terrorists Khomeinist have, they have silenced rather effectively any legitimate voice of opposition inside and out. No one is that stupid to think Press TV in UK, and 00s of Radio and TV stations elsewhere operating with Khomeinists money, are licensed by the West and other countries while no one in Iran is legally permitted to watch or listen to the voices of freedom. Now even our own VOA is in line with BBC. In the meanwhile IR of terrorist claim they are the leaders of Islamic world, while the Shi’it population is less than 10% of the overall Islamic population, and definitely no one in Islamic world except few groups of terrorists in the region, cares about Khomeinie system. The free world pretend that if they somehow help Iranian people in a more effective way which doesn’t requires a hardware war but a software war(like what they did to the Shah), to get rid of IR terrorist, the whole region will in flame. Nonsense. Free world knows it is a lie and so are Iranian people and other people in the region. People have concluded that the West doesn’t want to get rid of Khominists. Simple. So yes, who cares if:
“Meanwhile, those seeking freedom in the region are being sacrificed.”
So, wasting all that blood and treasure in a failed attempt to turn Afghanistan into an American sepoy state just isn’t enough, people now seem to want to start a war with Iran.
Lovely.
To answer your concern Mike, if we do not fight against the cancer cell, the nucleus of the disease itself which in this caset has always been the Islamic regime, we will NEVER win the war against the enemy wherever it may be in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, or any other troll of the mafia regime. Unfortunately that has been the policy of the US and the West, just cut off the little fingers, limbs and arms of the cancerous cell, while keeping the cancer cell itself to heal, treat and multiply in no time. That is why Afghanistan is gradually getting back to its internal flame and Iraq is going under the control of the Islamic regime and all whilst Russia and China is banking all the way to their vaults of blood money..My friend is fighting in Afghanistan and he is seeing the people and land he fought for 2+ years is being ransacked under the influence of the Islamic regime, the US intelligence knows about it but still the military is banned from doing anything concrete against all the vicious interference. In the meantime the Afghan people see all the interference and all the meddling of the Islamic regime, and watch how the US military is being barred from doing anything that can be effective in protecting their land.
What do you think those people are going to think about our resolve, our goal?
We all should know if you want to wage a smart war and really want to WIN the war, you must wage that against the cell itself and not waste your money, your time, and your blood..
West made sure that it does all except just that.
Islamic regime is winning, Islam is rising and the West is going down culturally, politically and economically.
We have not had any real visionary leader for a long time since Reagan.
As a further thought, the only way to defeat Iran is to decide that we are actually going to defeat Iran and to hell with political correctness. So, mind the Geneva Convention is you must, but if we are going in then use every tool and weapon we have. Remember, though, that if we do hit Iran we are likely to have to hit Beirut and Damascus as well. If you are not willing to that then, in the final analysis, you really aren’t ready for a war with Iran.
Gotta pass on the following quote—-
“Neither can he be said to will one thing when that one thing which he wills is not in itself one: is in itself a multitude of things, a dispersion, the toy of changeableness, and the prey of corruption!
In the time of pleasure see how he longed for one gratification after another. Variety was his watchword. Is variety, then, to will one thing that shall ever remain the same?
On the contrary, it is to will one thing that must never be the same. It is to will a multitude of things. And a person who wills in such a fashion is not only double-minded but is at odds with himself.
For such a man wills first one thing and then immediately wills the opposite, because the oneness of pleasure is a snare and a delusion. It is the diversity of pleasures that he wills.
So when the man of whom we are speaking had gratified himself up to the point of disgust, he became weary and sated. Even if he still desired one thing—what was it that he desired?
He desired new pleasures; his enfeebled soul raged so that no ingenuity was sufficient to discover something new—something new!
It was change he cried out for as pleasure served him, change, change!!!
And it was change that he cried out for as he came to pleasure’s limit, as his servants were worn out—
CHANGE, CHANGE!”
pages 56-57, “Purity of heart is to will one thing” by Soren Kierkegaard
We are being led by an administration in Washington that is concened only with feeding a compliant press and media smoke, mirrors and self conceit. The situation could not be worse.
What I never could quite understand about the United States is why we always have to deal in extremes with countries like Iran. Either we do nothing or we go to war. Why is that, especially when it’s so unneccessary.
We could easily supply rebels in both Syria and Iran against the current regimes. Supply them with weapons, supplies, training, and anything else they needed to win their freedom on their own, without the use of American ground troops. I’m sure Syria and Saudi Arabia would help us in arming the Syrian rebels and we could certainly arm the rebels in Iran by using the Kurds, who thoroughly detest the Iranians. With a little luck, we could re-ignite a popular rebellion in Iran like the one that almost toppled the government in 2009. This was Obama’s biggest foreign policy mistake, not taking advantage of the 2009 revolt. He and Clinton did nothing and the rebellion was crushed. God knows how many died. Maybe a president Romney would not make the same mistake.
But America really needs to start using assymetric warfare against the Iranians. The Iranians have been using it against us and Israel for years. Lebanon is now basically an Iranian puppet state because of Iran’s support of Hezbollah, and Hamas, right next to Israel, gets its weapons from Iran as well. Why not start turning the tables on Iran by using their own tactics against them? Arm the rebels in both Syria and Iran and it will deal a significant blow to the mullahs in Iran. And don’t worry about who will replace Assad in Syria. Even if it is an Islamist, that person can’t be worse than Assad and he will hate the Iranians because of all the support the Iranians gave to Assad.
The time to be bold is now. Who knows, we may even score two huge victories without risking a single American soldier. Now wouldn’t that be a refreshing change?
It’s another episode in that long-running saga, “Suicide of the West.” The West made a very determined attempt at suicide in 1939 and almost succeeded. Here we go again. If there were ever a clear argument for “regime change,” Adolph Hitler provided it in the 1930s. Ditto the ayatollahs since 1979.
The problem is not Iran by itself. The problem lies fundamentally with Islam itself. Its rules are simple, subjugation, nothing else. If the West is not prepared to fight a war for total victory, it will lose. That means being committed to fighting a war that may last 1000 years. The question is basic, freedom or subjugation. With all the carping going on you would think that the enemy is Israel, but it is not. Yet, the west hides behind Israel. That little country can’t do it alone. In its death throws it will take out a chunk of the enemy, but that’s just a chunk. The real meat of the problem has to be faced by the entire free world. Christianity better wake up or it will be under the yoke of Islam. If you want to see how that works just look at Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Mali, Nigeria, Sudan and Pakistan.

Obama plays golf, press gets left behind By Jamie Klatell – 05/26/12

“Ergo, Assad’s and Khamenei’s enemies don’t get help from the West, while the Syrian tyrant gets help from Tehran and Moscow.”
Thank you, Valerie Jarrett.
Michael,
The adolescent ideological wishful thinking of the Obama regime and the unanimous 1877 decree by Karl Marx and Fredrich Engels who stated that: “those that do not agree with them are politically incorrect” promote and perpetuate man’s worst evils.
As for Iran’s Ayatollahs, Syria’s Assad and Russia’s Putin their fates appear to be drifting in the directions of Mubarak, Gaddafi and Trotsky, respectfully.
Regards.
“As for Iran’s Ayatollahs, Syria’s Assad and Russia’s Putin their fates appear to be drifting in the directions of Mubarak, Gaddafi and Trotsky, respectfully.”
Nothing more far from the reality. Ayatollahs – Mubarak: unlikely, Assad – Gaddafi: wishful thinking, Putin – Trotsky: absolutely nothing in common!
Oh look, I wrote right instead of write.
