Happy New Year to you too; and, yes, 2008 seems to be a promising vintage, already, as seen from France where I am at this time. For there is something of an improvement as the newscaster of France 3, the second largest French public television network, enthusiastically announced today 12 a.m. that only 372 cars have been burned down during the midnight party; or 6 percent less than last year same night!

Also, as a matter for the next 2008 Darwin awards, which seem to be promising too.
LYON, FRANCE – As a man was attempting to dip a piece of cake in a glass of burning whisky, during midnight party, he accidentally tipped the glass over himself.
This culinary experiment was followed by the death of the man whose body burned entirely, and by the evacuation of the 17 persons living in the building. 53 firemen are still attempting to extinguish the fire as this news is written.
