The 17 Places and Things We’ll Miss Most About Living in the San Fernando Valley

We've called Sherman Oaks home since 2010 but this week we're moving to South LA to be close to my wife's new art studio.

When I was a kid they went to a little more effort to disguise the fact that it was just a toy commercial... What is this Lego movie crap? April and I about to see "Her". Date night.

17. The ArcLight movie theater at the Galleria.

Where: 15301 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA

Our theater attendance tended to drop the last few years as my wife’s graduate school workload increased, but when we really wanted to see something projected well and make a nice date of a movie this was our preferred indulgence.

Dave, I've never been there but I've heard the sun also rises in South LA.

We'll see if I can find as good a place to view it each morning again...

Dave, I can not answer all your points, it is late and I'm tired. There is a fantastic dog park on 190th and Flagler in Redondo Beach, very open and friendly. We also have great hamburger places, In and Out and a new Five Guys just opened on Hawthorn Blvd. Come on down, you will adapt faster than you think, and you might not miss the heat. For "diner vibe" please visit Norms, also on Hawthorn Blvd, you will feel yourself moving back in time.

I lived and worked in the Valley for 12 years, but left permanently in 1988. I do miss the Trader Joe's and all the great restaurants, but that's about all. I especially don't miss the traffic on the 101.

I remember the San Fernando Valley as a six year old, being driven on
a Sunday afternoon to the far reaches of the west valley, by my
parents. Miles and miles of cornfields and no development. World
War II changed all that. It was a great place for a kid to live. A
great place for anyone to live.

Seems unlikely you would've moved there for any of those things in the first place if someone had made a list.

The Habit is on the West side, and close to Inglewood, and Jersey Mike's is a chain that is all over.

Silly to comment on missing something that is a chain.

Neither will be 5 minutes away anymore. Of course I can just drive to everything here to see it again.
