Lady Gaga: ‘I Quite Like the Transference of Strength I Feel By Submitting To a Man – Being Under Him.’
via Lady Gaga Has Even More Weird Thoughts On What It Means To Be A Feminist | The Jane Dough.
You know what’s so funny is, I actually think there’s a new feminism that is completely different and I don’t think either is better or worse. Any kind of feminist has valid views for herself about what it means to be a feminist, but, as a new-age feminist, I would say I quite like the transference of strength I feel by submitting to a man – being under him. I actually wrote a song about it on my album, it’s called GUY and it stands for Go Under You. So wearing make-up, smelling delicious and having suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs is something I find strengthening because I know that when I pick the right guy, I can let him have it. Some women feel oppressed by make-up and clothing, and here’s to them, they have every right to feel that way as well.

Gee. I guess it’s too late for her to do an Obama ad, huh?
Well, they both have a bright second career awaiting at the posion control center.
The Perfect Emetic!
Miss Gaga is one of those popstars who believes everything that tumbles out of her mouth is both brilliant and profound.
She’s wrong, of course.
OK, but it doesn’t excuse that makeup.

Actually, Gaga is quite the little coldly calculating entrepreneur and I don’t know that she’s done anything that I wouldn’t do too, for just a fraction of the money she gets for it. Unless she’s also attended any of the Hollyweird Obamafests, which I wouldn’t want to do for any money … well, OTOH, for nine figures I’d have to consider it, y’know.
In the typical, consensual Dominant/Submissive relationship, 99% of the time it’s the Sub that has all the power and freedom of choice. The Dom is the one who is doing all the work, and carefully watching for feedback to see how far/where to take the scene.
Given this forum, nobody here to whom that is news should feel bad.
Gaga is unashamedly devout Catholic. She refuses to be cowed when folks discuss sex, and will punch right back, rather than pretending to be embarrassed.
Also, Lady Gaga is fantastically talented, and spent over a decade of hard work perfecting her act, appearance, musical talents and voice before she became an “overnight success”.
Tony Bennett performed a video duet with her, and came away praising her skill and professionalism to the clouds. On Howard Stern, she told the story of the song “On the Edge of Glory”. It was to celebrate her grandfather’s very well lived life, his unbroken love for his wife of over a half century, and his undoubted entrance into heaven.
The song isn’t about sex, either. It’s about her and her father sharing a bottle of tequila and talking late into the night about what a great father/grandfather he was.
The piano and singing was live, unaccompanied and not auto-tuned
Now that you know the story behind the song (which she composed) watch this without tearing up. I dare you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD4ICwgZiBs
Just pray that somebody with that much talent decides to perform a beautiful song about how great YOU were. Good luck.
I hate her politics, but I refuse to stand by while a lady is insulted baselessly.
Agree with evrything you said.
I do not think the word means what you think it means. And that goes twice.
I was on the set as a tech when “Poker Face” was filmed and did some design on “Bad Romance” as well. Incidentally met GaGa in Japan after the tsunami.
She is the sweetest thing to work with. Always respectful, always demanding, but never pushing on others what she can’t do.
Hey #2, maybe when you will be a multimillionaire at the age of 22, you should also delight humanity with your deep, great insight.
That doesn’t disprove the claim that behind every great fortune lies a great crime.
Good comeback! Though I suppose when you’re responding to a 12 year-old, it’s not so hard.
I always suspected that some of these “vapid” stars — GaGa, Paris Hilton — are actually much smarter than they let on. GaGa went from a nobody to #1 seemingly overnight. That doesn’t happen by accident.
There’s a public character that they play, and it earns them millions. They want to keep people talking — case in point, this article. If you had paparazzi following you around, wouldn’t *you* toy with them by making asinine comments just to see them eat it up?
Of course… it’s possible they really ARE just pretty-looking morons.
Re: Lady Gaga
Profound thoughts from the same lyrical talent who gave us “bluffin’ with my muffin.”
Cole Porter and Noel Coward would be, I’m sure, enthralled with the sheer wittiness and sophistication of it all……

You mean like this deep, deep piece of intellectualizing:

Pop music isn’t deep. It’s not supposed to be.
There’s a reason that The Clash wrote crap like “Should I stay or Should I go”. It was to fund crap like Sandinista!.
MMmmm… The Clash.
Permit me to play a cultural version of “degrees of separation”:
Lady Gaga’s boyfriend is from Lancaster County, PA, a very conservative & traditional region. He attended Lancaster Mennonite High School. A generation or two ago, LMHS would have represented a very traditionalist clientele. Although such people no longer patronize the school, there are still conservative Mennonite women who wear a “covering” representing their “submission” to their husbands.
Yes, and at least in the 1980s the mid-west mennonites were largely center-left democrats. My best friend came from the more liberal side of that stock. His grandfather (or uncle, I forget) was one of those who left Russia because of *their* violence and imperalism and settled in the Kansas/Nebraska area to build “our” wheat belt. Anyway, this man once wrote a **6 figure** check to a charity. On the spot.
There’s different kinds of religious beliefs and different kinds of conservatism. Some folks who wear head scarves and blue dresses would be more than happy to have big government health care and all sorts of aggressive social engineering as long as it was their sort of social engineering.
It takes a certain kind of person to reject government intervention when the government is pushing things the direction that person wants to go. Most folks don’t have it.
All I can say is “Live and Learn.”
Good for her.
Still, I’m not her target market.
Someone has to lead in a dance. Her statement/s here are an example of not being a nonthinking idiot pushing the usual PC party line… Regardless of whether you end up married and monogamous.. or not…

“I always suspected that some of these “vapid” stars — GaGa, Paris Hilton”
Yep; Hilton has made much more money on her own than from her inheritance….
So GaGa notices that submission to masculine strength feels good? Well okay. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The rest of the time, she is spewing garbage like this:
