Sandra Fluke Speech Full Text and Video: ‘Many Women Are Shut Out and Silenced’
In that America, your new president could be a man who stands by when a public figure tries to silence a private citizen with hateful slurs. Who won’t stand up to the slurs, or to any of the extreme, bigoted voices in his own party. It would be an America in which you have a new vice president who co-sponsored a bill that would allow pregnant women to die preventable deaths in our emergency rooms. An America in which states humiliate women by forcing us to endure invasive ultrasounds we don’t want and our doctors say we don’t need. An America in which access to birth control is controlled by people who will never use it; in which politicians redefine rape so survivors are victimized all over again; in which someone decides which domestic violence victims deserve help, and which don’t. We know what this America would look like. In a few short months, it’s the America we could be. But it’s not the America we should be. It’s not who we are.

I am still floored by this woman’s idea that the American taxpayer has to finance her sex life. Talk about a sense of
entitlement! And furthermore, I think, we need to put a stop to the rest of us having to finance “partial birth abortions” i.e murder. One way to stop it is to vote for Romney. What has happened to this country that the far left now feel that even (what should be) the most private part of their lives should be paid for by someone other than themselves.
Incidentally, Mzz Fluke is now Mrs. Mutterperl, as she married into a wealthy “progressive” family recently. Don’t you love that, wealthy “progressives?” She can afford to subsidize the sex lives of every G’Town female law student if she chose to do so.
Mrs. Fluke has been working the wrong profession; She should have become a professional hooker. With her apparent sexual appetite, she would have become rich beyond her wildest dreams, in about a year, and could have retired to the Virgin Islands.
And in the second year, she could have bought the Virgin Islands.
Poor thing.
http://www.americanthinker.com/cartoons/
“in about a year, and could have retired to the Virgin Islands.”
O, the irony!!
I’d like the right to choose not to be forced to pay for anyone’s contraception or abortion.
I’ll gladly pay for their contraception when they pay for my ammunition.
In Soviet Amerikka, all womyn can testify before Congress.
Ms Fluke: The hearing from which you were excluded was not about “contraception.” It was about religious freedom. As you (and Wikipedia) know, your name was not submitted by the Democrats for the witness list until the day of the hearing. Both panels at the hearing consisted of witness who would testify regarding the contraception mandate’s violation of religious freedom, which is guaranteed by the 1st Amendment. What you wished to testify about did not involve religious freedom, or the 1st Amendment. When I attended Georgetown Law, we learned about the Constitution. Apparently, you chose not to study the Constitution, since its limitations on government action would require you to pay for your own contraceptive measures. You are an embarrassment to the institution and its alumni.
As a supplement, two women did testify at that hearing: (a) Dr. Allison Dabbs Garrett, the senior vice-president for academic affairs at Oklahoma Christian University and (b) Dr. Laura Champion, medical director of Calvin College Health Services.
You can read the fact checking of Fluke’s statement at Weekly Standard and Patheos.
once again she is an example of a lib who refuses to let facts get in the way of the narrative
Ms. Fluke, I invite you to move to an Islamic country, live there for a while, then report back to us about life, won’t you?
Sluts get beheaded in islamic countries.
I think Obama remaining silent while the Hispanic, Asian and black tri-caucuses walked out of the Holder contempt hearing on the idea it was being done because of racism is a little more important and relevant than a shock jock making fun of Fluke. What the hell does Romney have to do with an entertainer?
Obama is alway Mr. Cleanhands while others do the dirty work. Funny how the black Left has such a low profile at the DNC. Stupidly, the DNC is allowing “Vote Black” buttons.
My first thought as well. I just wonder, is this little person just THAT clueless? Or is her ideological affiliation her only guiding star? It’s hard to say. Academia and the elite media have done such a thorough job of “silencing” any facts that are off-agenda, it’s hard to say, Maybe Ms. Fluke truly is oblivious. Maybe the multi-culti/PC police have rotted her brain to such an extent that she will never again be able to add two plus two or think for herself ever again. I declare, it’s like the *Body Snatchers” you know? We have millions of vegetable brains on the Left, and there’s simply nothing for it. They’re gone. Their real identities have been replaced with robotic group think. All we can do is crush them in the polls. And crush them we must.
Man, I screwed that up. I was meaning to respond to Sarah’s post! :-/
Why should I subsidize someone else’s recreational sex if I’m not participating?
Also, I was under the impression that contraceptions of all kinds are widely available and very affordable. I mean, they’re passing out condoms to 11-year-olds in school for crissake!
The wide availability of contraception brings up another (what should be) glaring issue: the vast majority of the way-too-many abortions are done on women who didn’t want to get pregnant in the first place. Why in the Hell are a million women (the number left after more “compelling” cases are taken out of the equation) women having “stupidsex” (one word) without protection if they don’t want the unpleasant consequences?
Silenced?
Bolshevik!
She won’t Shut Up.
And on Prime Time no less.
My thought exactly. The worst of it is that now she is a household name, we will see this babe again. Let’s see, when does Barbara Boxer retire, for example…..
Ms. Fluke;
What medication are you on that has you so debilitated and feeling so persecuted?
Please get yourself some professional help.
You really need to start living in the current century.
Brilliant photo essay! Ms. Fluke’s speech was what I expected it to be…awful.
“Many women are shut out and silenced.”
Where? Did she give this speech in Pakistan?
Women are doing fabulously well in modern America, thank you very much, and I hear them everywhere and they won’t shut up. I’m sorry, but how did this freak find a portal to our Universe so she could whine to us about hers?
This was one of the weirdest speeches ever. It was down right paranoid. My, this woman sees persecution everywhere.
Anyway, I now know what DNC stands for. It stands for the Dilation ‘n Curettage Party. They worship abortion. They talk about it all the time. They are obsessed with it.
Yeah…abortion, sodomy and euthanasia. A trinity of death.
Here presented before us, the liberal:
1. Her first point, that she was shut out of a debate on contraception, turns out to have been a 1st Amendment debate about a religious organization’s right to not be compelled by government to offer abortions if it conflicts with their beliefs. Apparently she was silenced for talking about the wrong subject. The nerve!
2. She then goes on to call Republicans bigots, humiliators, de-facto murderers, birth control hoarders, attackers of those who are raped, domestic violence adjudicators (?), health insurance discriminators, and–best of all–introduces this tirade by accusing Republicans of . . . wait for it . . . casting slurs!
Let’s take a look at these accusations.
Bigots–she doesn’t really say why, but then uses an excellent example of what it is by attacking the Catholic Church for their beliefs.
Humiliators–Apparently this has something to do with forcing “invasive” ultrasounds (a procedure that is in itself, and is characterized as being, a non-invasive procedure.) As for the merit of the claim, I’m not even aware of what this is about.
De-fact murderers–This is a good one. In this country, the current laws for obtaining an abortion is anything goes at any time. States may restrict the admissible time when an abortion is allowable generally by determining whether the fetus is capable of surviving on its own outside the womb. However, this law becomes meaningless when an exception is made for the case where the mother’s life is at risk (fine), but also goes on to say or when it may effect a woman’s mental health. Now this add-on functionally means anything goes at any time, anywhere, including partial birth abortions.
Now I must say that I really am not all hyped up on the abortion debate and think that (like most people) it gets extremely creepy beyond the first or–gulp–even second trimester. But those who advocate abortion right through the third trimester up until delivery is occurring, I can only categorize as so callous in their thinking (boarding on psychopathy) in that this has no effect on them. Which is, as stated, the current law of the land.
The writer then states that Republicans are willing to put a woman’s health at risk by insisting that the mother continues with the pregnancy. She then makes the hyperbolic claim that it is murder if the woman dies as a result. This is what I assume she is saying, although I’m not sure she knows herself, in that it was never explained. And true, I suppose this is the Republican Party’s official platform (which is, admittedly, itself a bit extreme) but is fully overshadowed by the sheer brutality of advocating the KILLING OF A BABY AS IT IS BEING BORN. Something she doesn’t seem to have a problem with.
–Birth control hoarders. Not sure what she means here again. Maybe she’s confusing the Republican Party with the Catholic Church. By the way, aren’t most catholics democrats these days? Or maybe she means by not paying for other peoples’ birth control that they are keeping it from them. Quite a leap that can only be made by someone who doesn’t understand that everything shouldn’t be provided for them.
–Attackers of those who are raped. Again (and this is becoming a bit tiresome) she doesn’t explain what she’s talking about so I have to guess. Was it that congressman who said women can somehow protect themselves from pregnancy when they are raped? If so, I can’t think of anyone in the Republican Party who backed up this claim, but I sure heard a lot slamming it. But once the statement is made by one Republican, it becomes the liberal’s proof of Republican thought on the issue as to have been enshrined as part of the official party platform. Of course, the liberal believes they can read people’s minds and know beyond a shadow of a doubt, with absolute metaphysical certainty, that this reveals the true dark inner thoughts of every Republican that ever existed. Never mind what they say, the tea leaves read . . . .
–Domestic violence adjudicators. Now here I’m really lost. I guess she means its outrageous that–normally in he-said, she-said disputes–its only men who are charged with domestic violence. Finally, we agree!
–Health insurance discriminators. Well if men didn’t die so young by choosing to marry women like her, they too would be greater consumers of health care dollars and the sex bias would be absolved. And you can count that as my personal call to action.
Anything goes, indeed: http://dancingczars.wordpress.com/tag/obama-voted-for-live-birth-abortion/
She reminds me of Monica Lewinski.
And, as an aside, who the hell came up with that gawd-awful necklace? Joe Biden?
“Reproductive Justice Activist”? WTF? Don’t you mean ANTI-Reproductive Take-Me-You-Brute Activist?
James Taranto has some interesting comments on Ms. Fluke’s place in politics and the contradictions of feminism. She is demanding paternal protection from government and chivalrous defense from politicians. “The Flukist Democrats will take America forward to 1883.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443686004577635411077078008.html
You know who else is shut out and silenced in Ms. Fluke’s world? Transgendered individuals who have to pay for their own sex change operations. She wants insurance coverage mandates for that as well. Funny she didn’t talk about that last night.
Ms. Fluke, you play you pay.
Has any woman come forward to affirm that Sandra Fluke speaks for her?
My daughter agrees with her. She’s nomally quite level headed but somehow her feelings were hurt by the entire Fluke gate thing. Was a giant bone head error for Rush to ‘punch down’ and pick on a college girl. Probably worse if he is right than if we wasn’t.
Ms Fluke is not a “college girl.”
Sandra Fluke provides a perfect caricature of the current state of the Democratic Party.
Venal, vapid and feckless.
You forgot ‘horny’.
I am certainly grateful to have a chance to respond directly to Ms. Fluke.
I’m an old school feminist. Back in the day when women were seen as mostly DNA donors, with nothing to contribute to the world beyond the hearth, second class citizens best to keep barefoot and pregnant, I was a student in a nearly all male discipline in a mostly male university. Told to my face that I was ‘wasting a space that could have been for a man’ and how appalling it was that I was on full academic scholarship, that brains are wasted in women, some thought they were paying me a compliment when they said I was too pretty for an education. I grew a very large chip on my shoulder to prove them wrong. And I’ve been largely successful. The sexual harassment that I dealt with in school and in the workplace for two decades would send you scurrying home to hide under your futon. I and others like me dealt with it and it did not get in our way.
Like many women of my time, we gained the respect of colleagues in science, engineering, medicine, law, business, and many pursuits that were male-dominated professions. We worked harder than the men, we had to, and we fought for equal pay for equal work. We got those promotions and we won the argument. Victory! It was at last culturally self-evident that women have more to contribute. Woman are more than wombs!
And then a puny irrational excuse for a grievance garners national attention that sets women’s equality back fifty years. You and all those vagina-dressed clones have no clue what true oppression is like and you embarrass yourself and our gender beyond measure. You are an affront to all the women that broke the barriers before you, that put up with the insults to prove the I-hate-women-drivers set wrong. Do you honestly believe that we fought for our daughters and generations of women to follow us so that now you can sully all of our efforts in the name of debauchery? You proudly illustrate a willful ignorance that I thought we women had finally overcome – you are saying to the world that women are nothing but wombs!
Dearie, you are speaking for yourself. And the worst shame is that you could be so much more.
Well said. Your generation taught people to listen to what women had to say. Fluke has probably never experienced men ignoring her opinions merely because she’s female. She mistakes disagreement for sexism. Kind of blurs the line between women’s equality and women’s privilege.
Brava!
Sandra, you are the personification of those biddies stumbling around in their vagina suits. Basically, you are a talking vagina. And, well, not a very attractive vagina. If you encounter difficulty in securing an adequate supply of contraceptives, I suggest you try climbing into a Hefty Bag which should cover all eventualities.
I am so ashamed that these women think they are representing a woman like myself . I was born in 1960 & yeah my own mom went through this I am Woman thing & our home life became h*ll for it and then my dad that had worked hard all his life was thrown away like we ie children were … We I was old enough to run, I ran .. I have 4 children and NEVER would have even thought to abort life … I have recently dismissed my relationship with my own mother over these same issues called being unveiled .. Several yrs ago my own mother said to myself & 3 sisters that we needed to understand we were sitting on gold and needed to start using that to use a man hmmm Oh I understood ,, I am married to a former Marine he and my children are my GOLD and my relationship with GOD is beyond the concept of Gold … I stayed home raised our children and never did I think of it as a burden but as precious and Id do it over again … thanks for the time anyone has taken to read this as there is so much more to it … Freedom is belief in GOD …
“Many women are shut out and silenced” = Leftist ideas are not fully subsidized by the government, and leftist women are not always able to shout down and disrupt speech that they disagree with.
Yeah, o.k., I’m no longer fertile and of childbearing age, so I can be matronly and opinionated. Okay, Sandy baby, are you kidding me? Did it ever occur to you that if you want your bones jumped six ways from Sunday, and then again…and again…it just might be them there ovaries, down there, midst the lady parts, screaming for attention? They are ravenous, my dear, and they make you want, want, want. It has always been so and Oh my God I had sex and somehow, some way I “got” pregnant. I can’t be pregnant! I wanna make partner! Why me? I’m too smart for this to have happen. I have control over every facet of my life, damn it, and I want somebody else to fix this problem for me. And I mean NOW. I want my Sugar Daddy, Uncle Sam, to make it all better.
Good speech. Still I cannot believe that the difference between a co-pay for well woman care and “free” well-woman care is something on which to base your vote for President. Nor can I quite summon any outrage that a radio “shock-jock” was offensive and Ms. Fluke needed someone to stand up for her. Free speech is often disrespectful. Move on.
Umm, contraception is not a’women’s health’ issue, nor is it ‘well woman care’; it’s an entertainment expense. Got it???
Like Ace said, it would be really sad if Obama were elected on the basis of promising college kids free stuff that they will waste the rest of their lives paying for.
And as Glenn Reynolds suggests, why are there no Title IX – type demands for equal health care dollars to be spent on men and women, to raise men’s average life expectancy closer to that of women? Does this kind of activism end in rationing or in more debt?
We have Rush to thank that we are now hearing anything from this twit.
She was a nothing until Rush made her into something.
Now we’re stuck with her. Only a matter of time before she is in the House of Representatives.
Yeah, Rush is her benefactor, sponsor, and mentor. Yeah. Yeah? Yeah.
/+++++s
No one is making anybody be quiet, much less any woman. The “I’m so oppressed” whining is getting real tedious to hear from priviledged women with law degrees.
Say whatever you want, Sandra, just keep your hands out of my wallet. Fund goodies for your genitals yourself. No one is obligated to buy your contraceptives for you.
Grow up and take responsibility for your body.
If Sandra Fluke’s problem is addressed and solved by the Democrat Party, then the Democrat Party should be required to address and solve the problem of hookers, vibrators, and blow up dolls for everybody else.
Can’t you just imagine this Bill in Congress?
And it’s no more ridiculous than Sandra Flukes “dilemma”.
I always have to laugh a little whenever somebody at a podium speaking to to a large audience claims to be ‘silenced’ or ‘shut out’.
Too bad all those women shut out and silenced are Conservative women at the hands of Leftist women like Ms. Fluke, the D Party Ms. Fluke supports, the PP Org. Ms. Fluke supports, the many other anti women Org.s Ms. Fluke supports, and the MSM/Press anti-conservative women propaganda which Ms. Fluke supports.
