There's a niche in computer science called "Genetic Programming" that involves entirely random computer programs. No, honestly. The programs are limited to what's basically an -extremely- small "computer language" that's designed to be unable to do the typical bad-programming silliness (infinite loops, buffer overruns, etc) and eliminates lots of things that are common, but -can- cause errors. Like the answer for (one divided by zero) might be pre-arranged to be -one-, just to make the entire answer space -closed-. (While this is obvious BadMath, the programs end up either figuring out a way to get the answer -without- division, or they don't go anywhere vaguely near 1/0).

Hmm. Actually skipping rest of description. Super short version: -random- computer programs can cooperate if that's what their best choice is. Neither side needs to know what the other sides are thinking to end up at a point where they're -doing- something cooperative.

Proving this in genetic programming isn't even tough.
