We are Unique because noone has done what we have done when it came to building a nation under GOD !! With the promise that all people have the right to life, liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness !!! Some may not be happy, but I don’t see them leaving America to go be unhappy anywhere else. This nation has sacrificed more blood and given more money to help other countries than any others !!! WE have earned the respect our reputation has given us, an now it will be destroyed by progressive ideologues who sit around thinking they know more than we do. As an Ivy League college graduate, I can safely say, that the people of this nation are no longer the uneducated people many used to be at the beginning of this country, we are now informed…..well informed, and know exactly what the ls is doing, how they are doing it, and what we must do to stop these socialist, political hacks !!!! WE WILL VOTE every single loser out of office and replace them with people of dignity, virtue, and most of all…integrity and love of country !!! God bless America !!

The author of this article misses the entire definition of “American exceptionalism,” either by accident or by design.
The term American exceptionalism does not refer to our military might or our economy, it refers to our place in the world. Simply put, American exceptionalism refers to a double standard by which America is allowed to do things which other nations are not because we are “good” while they are evil. If the US tortures people who have never been convicted of a crime, it’s acceptable, because, after all, we’re the US and we’re torturing people for “good.” If other nations do it, however, it’s not OK, because their torture is evil. If the US invades other nations who have done nothing to us, or drops nuclear weapons on civilian populations, or firebombs civilian populations, it’s OK. If other nations do similar things, it most certainly is not OK.
This double standard is the true definition of “American exceptionalism,” not our performance in any of the above-mentioned areas.

America is exceptional because of its achievements, but there are even more fundamental reasons why our nation is a special place. All other nations are a result of their history. Only America was born of philosophy; the concept that all men are created equal. Sure, we may have trouble living up to that ideal sometimes, but it is always there and always our goal. Also, we are the only nation that had a revolution that didn’t end up eating itself in the end, a credit I largely lay upon George Washington, who believed as I now do, that this nation was ordained to be. This exceptionalism, this Republic, is the chief reason we excelled in all other ways.

I agree with your first thee examples of America’s exceptionalism. Equating movie popularity is off target. Being the most popular movie making country just does not ring as clearly exceptional as the American poeple’s generosity.

Actually, the one you should follow this up with isn't Tribes (though I love it) it's Rafts. That, by the way, is a means to access the older stuff. Most of Bill's old eject!x3 site is still accessible via The Wayback Machine... You can't really do a search on stuff, though, you have to kinda hunt and peck for it, unless you happen to remember the article numbers (which you can if you still happen to have an older, non-working link). But you can certainly do a click-through to find the older entries via the "Next article"/"Previous article" links. Enjoy!
