Sebelius Calls for Investigation of Her Own Website

An investigative selfie, as it were.

“Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a blog post early Wednesday that she is asking the department’s inspector general to investigate the contracting process, management and performance and payment issues that may have contributed to the flawed launch,” the Associated Press reports, with the hilarious solemnity of a group of court stenographers. Their tone deflated by Matt Drudge, who notes that Sebelius wants her own Website investigated to find out what went wrong.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that an Internet project she oversaw had gone pear-shaped. “Obama administration Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’ failure at designing websites to provide government services began during her term as governor of Kansas, long before the Obamacare website debacle, Kansas political insiders told The Daily Caller,” back in October.

Reached for questioning about her investigation, it’s easy to imagine Sebelius adding, “If the Website is not what we were led to believe, I’d like to break that story…”

Update: “Coming next, Claude Rains orders an investigation into gambling at Monsieur Rick’s,” Glenn Reynolds insta-quips. Heh, indeed.™

And note in the comments:

  • This is a brilliant and effective bit of obfuscation. It allows the administration to hide behind the “Can’t comment about an ongoing investigation” umbrella. Mr. Podesta is already earning his pay.

  • Precisely. This is known as the “defensive investigation”, where nothing is ever turned up but other efforts to unravel the mess are stymied so as not to interfere with the “investigation”.  Invented by Clinton, perfected by Obama.
  • Works for the IRS issues, too.

All sad, but true.
