Politico Succumbs to Racial Epithets

“Politico’s Palin Headline Betrays ‘Cross Hairs’ Condemnation,” Dana Loesch writes today at Big Journalism:

Only Politico would title a story about Sarah Palin guest-hosting for the “Today” show — the same week that Katie Couric guest hosts on GMA — as “Shots Fired.”

SHOTS FIRED: With Katie Couric guest-hosting on ABC’s “Good Morning America” all week starting tomorrow,  NBC’s “Today” books SARAH PALIN.  Promo during “Meet the Press”: “Tuesday on ‘Today’: a special guest co-host — SARAH PALIN … She’ll reveal a side you haven’t seen before. Plus,  what she REALLY thinks about GOP politics and the president.”

As Dana notes, in January of 2011,  as part of left’s wilding campaign against Sarah Palin for her non-involvement in Democrat Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ horrific shooting (which also took the life of Bush #41-appointed Judge John Roll, and other victims), the JournoList-affiliated Politico hit Palin hard on her use of “bull’s-eye” clip art during the 2010 campaign, without noting that the left itself has used similar imagery itself:

On January 20th of 2011, Jeff Poor of the Daily Caller spotted National Journal’s Michael Hirsh (himself a member of the JournoList) blurting this metaphor out to Chris Matthews of MSNBC:

The use of gun metaphors – killing, murdering, taking out, which was another metaphor for a – Michele Bachmann used in one of her statements, Sharon Angle – the Nevada Senate candidate’s now infamous comment about quote, unquote, ‘second amendment remedies’ to deal with the problem Harry Reid, her opponent.”

His proposal? Make such language inappropriate in the same racial slurs are inappropriate.

That’s the kind of language I think we got to have a hard think about now,” Hirsh said. “Do we really want to continue to use that kind of language at these levels? Or, should there be kind of a social sanction, not a legal one, but a moral sanction in the way that we’ve stopped using certain epithets like the ‘n’-word public forums. Stop using that kind of language, those kinds of metaphors.”

Evidently Politico, itself with ties to the JournoList, either never got the message, or it was all, words, just words, as the president is wont to say, designed to temporarily try to silence the right. (I don’t know if Chris Matthews agreed with Hirsh, especially given the number of racial epithets, to use Hirsh’s metaphor, that overrun MSNBC’s parent network on Sunday nights in the fall.)

Related: “The media cooks all these stories, and then acts arrogant and belligerent when we notice they’re cooking these stories. That makes them angry.” As does suggesting to the MSM that they themselves play by the goofy arbitrary rules that they seem to enjoy making up on the spot, such as in January of last year.
