The Politico finally catches up with the rest of America in playing “Where’s Walbama?” Most of us noticed this back around February 1, 2009, when Obama started outsourcing all the things he wanted done to Congress, and spent time partying and playing sports. He talked about creating jobs, but rarely got his own hands dirty. He talked about this and that progressive agenda, then ticked off his far left base by then doing nothing. And then he talked about jobs, and did nothing. When something important happened, Obama tended to finally discuss it several days to two weeks later. Japan has a massive natural disaster? Offer prayers, then go play golf and head to the Gridiron dinner. Uprisings in the Arab world? He’ll get to ya. And now the Politico has
That’s a nice way of saying “Obama does something else while deficit burns.” Or, “where the hell is the president?”
At the American Thinker, Geoffrey P. Hunt posits that the president is basically in exile:
How to reconcile the optics of president Obama on his latest trip to Brazil? Being feted on the tarmac in Rio De Janeiro and later joining the dignitaries reviewing a Brazilian military parade, all while a new war has been started in Libya, our Asian ally lies in ruins, and federal government insolvency threatens our republic. This juxtaposition can only be seen through the lens of a self-imposed exile.
Obama is being chased by his own incompetence, forced to face it, unable to stare it down. Privately he must admit he is over his head and no one — not in the legislature, in the labor unions, in the deep pockets of George Soros nor the salons of liberal media apologists and sympathetic academics — can save his doomed presidency.
Obama is in full retreat. Disengaged and decoupled. A pathetic creature, soon to be deserving of mercy rather than scorn, if only his hubris were in lockstep full retreat. Is he guilty of desertion or mere dereliction? Desertion would be a harsh claim, but dereliction not so far fetched.
Nonsense — he’s just resting up for the real work, and the real fun of his administration. Campaign season starts in earnest early next year, and the man needs to be rested and refreshed to make his victory lap on his way to his second coronation reelection.
And as Jeff Goldstein recently wrote, “So, sh*t. Why not just play golf and eat burgers? The f*ck you bitter clingers gonna do about it?”
Not much, based on David Steinberg’s take on Karl Rove’s assessment on the PJM homepage: “Rove: Don’t Worry, 2012 GOP Candidates Busy with Strategy. Country: Duh — That’s Why We’re Worried.”
