This weekend, Obama told the graduates of Virginia’s Hampton University:
“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.
In contrast, the previous president was more than willing to use his iPod on camera:

Meanwhile, in other news of the rapidly diminishing coolness of the current occupant of the White House, Matt Welch writes, “Obama: College Experimentation Is Great, Keep That Mind Open, and Now if You’ll Excuse Me, I’m Going to Continue Presiding Over Our Militarized War on Personal Drug Consumption.”
(H/T for Bush iPod video, Gregg Hanke.)
Update: “PS Hey there, Mr. Supergenius President Sir? My four-year-old can work an iPod. Just sayin’.”

“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.
Let me see if i can finish the thought: “Therefore, at some point in the future, I will be asking you the American People to support my administration’s plans to silence this noise and emancipate the American people from these distractions and non-empowering entertainments.”
The president apparently is suffering from some early stage of dementia, since he was talking about the music he had on his iPod a year ago (or maybe he just gets his daughters to synch the thing up with his mp3 files, but has no idea how to use the scroll wheel or hit the ‘play’ button).
