But the general point is a good one: the fascist impulse is really the thought that the Right People should have complete power and be in control. Obama and these others, whatever their official politics, are primarily obeying the fascist impulse. Um, well, really Gaffe, a “fascio” is a grouop or a bundle; it comes from the “fasces” of Rome, which was a symbol of the Republic.
