The closest I've seen any American candidate come to that is Huckabee. If Palin joins Huckabee - or trumps what he says, I'll pay attention. Till then, so far as I am concerned, the motto of the 26 counties of the Irish Free State - "ourselves alone" - is my motto, and NO American is worth bothering over at all.
