Breitbart is doing a very good job - and the traditional media is proficient at muzzling anyone who's working against the left-wing, soft coup that has been paralyzing this country since the 60-s.

If you lay down with dogs, you will smell like dog feces...to be an outsider in this crowd is a compliment for over half of the country. As his websites become financially successful, expect the noise to increase as he converts the internet news from merely report the work of others to becoming a clearinghouse for real journalists as they begin to define the profession.

The NYT sets up a special monitor to track Fox and the Internet. I mean seriously. If you're scrambling to keep track of the news other news organizations are generating, how can you ever actually expect to generate news of your own.

Its like the city sanitation guys following around the bums collecting cans out of your trash can so that the garbage truck know where it has to go to pick up your trash.

Bradley, at 14, has it exactly right. There are facts that are available on web that are not available on in the NYT. But the NYT would like to pretend that the 'facts' only appear in papers. When your business is selling information, and you only provide part of the information available, then you limit you sales. I have never understood why the NYT, Washington Post, CBS etc. have all elected to compete for the 50% of the country who lean left, but leave Fox and the blogs to have the other 50% who lean right. I would never fund such a business model.

I admit to having a serious crush on Breitbart...he's smart, principled and (appears) fearless. More seriously, he has earned my respect and admiration, I am always interested in what he has to say.

Yes, it is remarkable that someone with Breitbart's impressive (and many) journalistic credentials can nevertheless be considered an "outsider."

Still, if I were he, I'd consider that designation a badge of honor. Excerpted from "Critically Speaking, Freely":

"..since the primary intent of the First Amendment is to encourage and protect speech that is critical of government, bloggers and members of what is commonly referred to as New Media (Internet journalists prime among them), more closely reflect the First Amendment's purpose than do denizens of today's print, network, and 'public' television and radio mediums."

#12 Hatless,

I grew up in Omaha. I know the paper you men. BTW I was there this past summer for a family reunion. The Dinner was at the Offutt Museum under a SR-71. Steaks provided by a family member. (Hint, nudge) A great time was had by all.

I love how the NYT uses the term "opinion media," to imply it's just opinion and not actual facts they are missing out on.
