Blogger Dean Esmay sent me a link about Earl Silverman who was the first to open a  shelter for men who had been domestically abused in Calgary, Alberta . On April 26th, 2013, Mr. Silverman took his own life. The shelter is looking for help so they can stay open.  You can read more here.

Dr Helen... the link in your post here goes to some crowd sourcing site.
The MASH shelter closed in March 2013 and Ed had sold the property last week just prior to him committing suicide.

Technically because Earl was forced to shut down we're starting a new organization in his name, but the people we have involved are very committed and quite qualified (Kristina's a social worker).

Thanks so much Helen! We'll make sure Earl's not forgotten!

Thank you so much for letting me know about Earl and his dedication to the men's shelter. It looks like the new organization is raising donations so hopefully the new staff can keep his cause going.
