Self-Evident

Last Saturday, Renee Ellmers (R-NC02) — a 2010 Tea Party favorite who has since lost the support of conservatives — gave a brief speech to the Moore County, North Carolina GOP Convention. During the speech, she claimed to hold the same views on immigration as Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and even Dr. Ben Carson.

This statement came a few days after Ellmers’ tendentious appearance with Laura Ingraham last week — an interview that might have progressed smoothly had Ellmers actually expressed the same views on immigration as those four.

Ellmers’ brief speech in Moore County offered no specification backing her claim, did not address how the statement was at odds with her recent appearance with Laura Ingraham, and was given seemingly without considering that someone would reach out to one of those four for comment.

(I have — I will print any responses here.)

Following Ellmers’ speech, the convention attendees proceeded to select her opponent Frank Roche two-to-one in the straw poll. A terrible showing, especially considering she is the two term incumbent, and this was a GOP convention, not a Tea Party gathering.

Here is the speech in its entirety:

Ellmers appearing with Laura Ingraham to discuss immigration was a harebrained decision, a mistake clear to anyone familiar with Ingraham’s commitment and experience opposing amnesty. Following that error, Ellmers compounded it by highlighting the praise she received from the Mark Zuckerberg-led, transparent, dopey amnesty ploy “Americans for a Conservative Direction.”

We cannot know, but these bizarre two weeks of campaigning by Renee Ellmers sure looks like the result of an ambitious candidate attempting to please national GOP leadership ahead of her constituency. Or perhaps one promised aid from the national party, an amount she believes sufficient to hold off her conservative challenger Frank Roche.

Though she has generally governed with an abandonment of her 2010 platform and base, the current missteps now seem less the work of an amateur, and more that of a two-headed monster: national leadership and Ellmers’ local team, trading off on odd and even days. I don’t know how else to figure it.

Either way, I do not see how she recovers, considering both the makeup of her district and the already significant anger over her tenure. Ann Coulter endorsed Frank Roche yesterday, and she hadn’t even seen this video yet.

Again, I have reached out to Cruz, Lee, and Paul, and will post any responses here.

The GOP establishment has suborned more than few representatives who originally supported the Tea Party platform. The only cure is to give those suborned their walking papers and elect a great number of Tea Prty people in 2014.

Their coffers while replenishable have got top run dry. They can only promise chairmanships to a limited number of people. We get enough people elected and they can make the chairmanship assignments.

The Progressive becomes upset when you accuse him of his liberal views being a sign of a mental disorder. Well, check your talking points Mr. Progressive. “An illegal alien isn’t really illegal.”
That is your stance. So if you are going to utter such an anti reason then how do you expect to be treated with any sort of regard for rational thought? For logic?
Let’s see what are your other defenses for the illegal invader who breaks our laws crossing our border in the night.

“You’re a racist.” Ah, brilliant. That does take some thought doesn’t it? No matter what, no matter how illogical you are shown to be you can always throw out the race card. Talk louder and faster in angered tone and call us racists. Yet we don’t have a problem with legal immigrants. But we are still racists, per the intellect of Progressive thought.

“Where did your ancestors come from?” Another well thought out adage of anti reason Mr. Progressive. You see that bait and switch is ridiculous as well. My ancestors came from Poland. Legally. And they learned English and got jobs. The border jumper is illegal. That would be the common sense rebuttal. But the liberal doesn’t understand common sense.

“They were here first.” Well not really. You see the ones left after the Mexican-American war stayed and generations passed. The illegal came from Mexico. He wasn’t here first. He was from down south in another country. As that war was centuries ago.

“They do the jobs we don’t want.” Ok fair enough. Let’s decrease welfare which would solve that problem. Oh that’s right, you champion American entitlement parasites as well with your anti reason.

“No human is illegal.” I have no comment for that one. Check the stupid definition in Websters.

If we continue this line of thought we will fall as a nation as my own fiction predicts as no nation that leaves borders open will survive. When we return to reason and common sense and ignore the above imbecilic arguments only then will we have a prayer of restoring America.

Renee Ellmers was in the right place at the right time when first elected in the Republican wave of 2010. Since then, she has betrayed every grass roots conservative and Tea Party member who voted for her. She is a careerist, plain and simple. She really believes that with a few GOP talking points, obfuscation, lies and platitudes she can keep on duping the unwashed masses. Considering Zuckerberg is supporting her re-election with hundreds of thousands of dollars its pretty clear which way he can count her to go on amnesty.
Renee Ellmers is much worse than any Democrat or Liberal. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Good riddance.

"She really believes that with a few GOP talking points, obfuscation, lies and platitudes she can keep on duping the unwashed masses."

Why wouldn't she believe that? It's worked for McConnell, McCain, McBoehner, et al for how long now? Unfortunately for her, the conservative base has finally figured out the gop game.

Perhaps the Chamber of Crony Commerce offered her a substantial donation or mentioned to "support" her.

As long as Karl Rove can shake down his crony capitalists in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with the hope of amnesty and a new supply of high-skilled and low-skilled immigrants, their coffers will be ok. What will really hurt them, and eventually drive away the crony capitalists, is if they can't attract the conservative and libertarian votes they need to put their hand-picked candidates in office.

And "national GOP leadership" is an oxymoron!
