As an an Australian I’m a complete outsider to this election but I have been taking an interest in the outcome as it will have such a huge effect on the stability of the rest of the world (where I live)

Why does surviving a prisoner of war camp in an undeniably tough fashion make you fit to run a country. What does being a soldier have to do with being a good commander in chief. Augustus Ceasar was one of the greatest leaders the world has ever seen. He was a sickly 19 year old when he inherited Julius Caesar’s position in Rome with very little political experience and no military experience. Yet he went on to reform Rome into one of the most succesful and formidable Empires in the history of the world, ushering in the Pax Romana (Roman Peace). He was quite simply a incredibly intelligent leader. He was not a soldier and he didn’t need to be. It was IRRELLEVANT just like its beside the point how tough McCain was when it comes to his ability to make tactical and critical decisions.
Why is war and violence so important to you, is it your youth as a country, is it your complete disconnection from the history of the old world? After two world wars Europe largely learnt its lesson but in recent years America (Mostly the Republican half) has been blazing on amidst a fury of relious zealotism and foolish patriotism.
To be quite honest this post was originally intended to be somewhat relevant to the blog post about Palin but I just get so pissed off reading stupid opinions bickering over essentially inconsequential matters like religion and family f#*%£cking values when you have to choose an intelligent leader (and VP) who will avert the downfall of your country or at least rebuild its standing in the world otherwise the Russians or Chinese will step in while you get bogged down in the quicksand that is the Middle East just because you like your oversized SUV’s and then everyone will be in a shiteload of trouble.
Just remember that if the rest of the western world could vote, Obama would probably get in with about a %90 majority but you manage to worry about surviving POW camps, keeping abortions illegal so that the world becomes more overpopulated and whether or not someone is a Muslim becuase they have a foreign middle name.
