Allah is the supreme rock god of the Qurayish tribe. The Qurayish had 670 gods at the time of Mohammed. He wanted to create a monotheistic religion so he picked Allah because everyone knew the name Allah. (It is that big black meteor sitting at the kaaba). The profession of faith that you spek of, the shahada, says: “La illah ila allah wa mohammed rasul allah” There is no god but allah and mohammed is his messenger. illah = god while allah = god of the koran and the supreme rock god of the qurayish before islam.
