Interesting that there are so many head wounds. The government forces are clearly aiming to kill, NOT to wound. In this instance we should be encouraging the protesters with everything we have. Syria can’t get much worse than it is right now. Syria already is a close ally to Iran, a big supporter of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and a deadly enemy to Israel. Can’t see how much worse it could get with Assad out of there. We should roll the dice and support the protesters and see what they can come up with. Unfortunately, in that part of the world, Assad would probably only be replaced by either a general in the army or by a mullah. But at least it’s worth a try. Strategically, Syria is much more important that Libya and you actually have a major popular uprising that has a chance of overthrowing the sitting dictator. It is worth a try.
