Actually, I have always been in favour of lowering the drinking age to 16. If kids were allowed to start drinking while they were still living with their parents, there would be a closer monitoring of their foolish binge drinking stage. If they do their stupid first-drunk mistakes while they are living with their parents they would be a lot safer and more likely to stop drinking irresponsibly earlier than they would be if they had their first serious drunks at a time when they are not under their parent’s watchful eyes.
There is another solution of course. I seriously believe that any person who is risking their lives for their country should be able to have a drink if they choose to. So why not keep the kids from joining the army until age 21? It might even lead to more maturity in the military.
