A nation can’t win a war if it refuses to fight that war. Iran has been killing Americans for decades now and our response has generally been to stick our heads in the sand. To this day we our removing American allied dictators in the Middle East while leaving in power the Mullahs who have been at war with us for 30 years. Yes we could wipe out the Iranian military tomorrow if we chose. They are winning because we are not fighting.
