I am not ooptimistic re an American Jewish awakening. Let’s see who foots the bill for Obama’s reelection campaign. Upper middle class American Jews are disconnected from Israel. Their major concern is maintaining their comfortable lifestyle. Further, their social conscience pose is an attempt to be ‘loved’ and accepted by the majority. They fear rejection or worse, and are unwilling to stick out their collective necks defending Israel. That won’t save them. Goldstone is a perfect example of the mind set that they share: a rejection of their roots bordering on self-hatred. Since its inception, Israel has been held to a higher standard than the rest of the world and criticized for failing to live up to that requirement. Israeli Jews are nothing if not realists. American Jews, in the main, are plain dumb.
