Actually, that is precisely why. You are right. By and large, people don’t hate what they truly fear, they hate what it is safe to hate, which explains the constant targetting of the U.S. and Israel for the slightest reason, real or invented. There’s no risk involved. Bullies count on that human trait, and generally, they are right to do so. That’s why the bien pensant line up to side with the thugs of this world. It’s so much safer.
