Well, there was certainly concrete evidence they were intending to throw urine around, and that alone might be enough to justify a pre-emptive strike.
The notice on the Internet seemed pretty clear about their plans, too.
It is too bad journalists got caught in the middle. Unfortunately, if you exempted journalists, the protesters would just get journalist cards and get away with it all.
