just about everyone has ancestors in a tribe of “colonizers.” Nothing necessarily wrong with that, my problem is with people who feel that some god or another gave them title to a particular piece of land.
i agree with you that the kurds deserve a state. don’t forget the yezidis too. any group that wants a state and has the might to secure it inalienably deserves a state. if securing such a state involves oppressing or removing members of other groups, then those other groups have an inalienable right to resist.
