In 1984 politicians wanted to appear to be doing something, so they came up with the perfect scheme. Pass an unjust, unconstitutional law that penalizes an entire class of citizens with no due process. Appease the Nanny-Staters. Here is the cleverest part of the whole scheme: by the time the under 21-year olds realize how unfair it is and get organized – the are 21.
The result has been no decrease in drinking, and cyncicism among young people, PARTICULARLY IN THE MILITARY (I was a Marine for 26 years).
On behalf of the young men and women who have won the war in Iraq for us, END THIS INJUSTICE.
