With Germany’s history no one should look to them as making progress or not. If they are pro-Israel it will be seen as guilt, if they are anti-Israel its old habits resurfacing. What is important is Jewish self-determination and if Germany changes so be it, if not then its another reason why a Jewish state is so important.
As for Islamic terrorism the early elements of the Muslim Brotherhood tacitly approved Germany as the master race when they allied with Germany. Given the Jihadists targets they probably still have the same views. I’m sure young Germans might be tempted to go with the Brotherhood over Israel. They gain veneration and lose the guilt.
