I wish I could agree. The truth is uglier.
They aren’t cowards. The worst of the worst – the SS Totenkopf (Death’s Head) Division was formed from concentration camps guard units. We would love to think they were cowardly bullies who could not face real combat. The Division fought on both fronts during WWII – including a long winter near Moscow – and performed magnificently.
The truth is that Germans aren’t cowards, just very capable, very disciplined followers. It will be interesting to see who they follow when the Caliphate comes to Europe.
