Ignorance, amorality, stupidity, emotional disturbance, malice all seem to play a part in the re-election of moral cripples. The elected one represents the level of virtue and intelligence found in his constituency, ie, rangelites elect Rangels, etc.
The solution is to restrict the franchise to the virtuous and intelligent, probably an impossible task. Ah, well! Shall one consider relocation? Costa Rica? Philippines? Singapore? Someplace warm, safe and inexpensive?
