This problem started with George Bush calling Islam a “religion of peace” and characterizing our struggle as a “war on terror.” Islam is specifically violent. And we’re not struggling against generic terrorism, a tactic, but against a fascist ideology. Nor is the struggle against a “radical fringe.” It’s a struggle against hundreds of millions of people who are willing to die and who have vast amounts of oil wealth and resentment toward the west, in equal measure.
