Manning Up or Wimping Out: Men Don’t Exist to Serve Women’s Desires
The problem isn’t just with young men needing to “man up” (which many do), but young women need to “woman up”. Relationships are not for children, just like decisions are not. Sadly, we seem to be encouraging childlike behavior long past its expiration date — there is nothing wrong with keeping a bit of child-like wonder and joy at living throughout one’s life, but acting childish is never good (perhaps inot recognizing the difference is where people go off track).
Should women be cherished and loved? Yes, but then so should men. Each should be recognized and appreciated for what they are and the vital role each plays — neither can do half so well without the other. They should both be allowed to go out into the world and learn from life’s hardships/failures as well as its joys/triumphs. That’s the only way either sex gets to some understanding of what it means to relate to each other and life as adults — that’s the only way they can both possibly get to the ability to cherish and love in the truest sense. We don’t seem to allow our young people to do this anymore.
