Did some checking, and there is a Daniel G. Amon of Alexandria, Va, who, as of 2004 was a GS-14 Public Affairs Specialist with the Selective Service System. Interestingly enough, someone by the same name was an aide to a congressman seeking to find some dirt on Bill Clinton anti-war record back in 1992.
What remains unanswered is under what authority the Obama registration info was obtained. If not under a Freedom of Information Act request, there may not be a a legal obligation to release the full story. The convoluted wording of the email is interesting. It does not say Obama registered in 1980, but that he registered in at a Hawaii post office (maybe last week when he was there on vacation 
, with an effective date of 1980. I myself have no doubt that Obama is a US citizen, but as in the case of the birth certificate, they raise lingering doubts but not releasing full unabridged documents when it eould be very simple to do so.
