Campaigns are run on two levels: The positions of the candidates and the innuendo about the candidate. Innuendo has become much amplified since I was a kid and the web has certainly been a major contributor. Innuendo is very effective on a large percentage of the voting public who have neither the time or inclination to do their own due diligence or don’t have core beliefs.
So for me whether or not he is a ligit candidate doesn’t matter. Fundamentally I don’t like his positions or his lack of experience, and the rest is chopped liver.
I like the fact the NYT does not resort to innuendo, they prefer out and out lying such as the McCain alleged affair article. I don’t like McCain either but again it is for his positions. I do dislike him much less.
