Not to be too paranoid (I think the birth certificate kerfuffle is silly, and this one probably is too) but there’s a world of weasle-space in the word “effective.” Registered “at a post office in Hawaii” last week and backdated by an agreeable Selective Service System to an “effective date” in 1980? If you’re into Clintonisms you can certainly read the letter that way.
