Proreason, You are 100% correct. Many say all politicians lie, it is like breathing to them. But this is cynicism at its worst. Our system relies on a competition of the airing of honest views and let the electorate decide whose ideas they prefer. Obama has been practicing a form of “stealth Socialism” to borrow a phrase from Stanley Kurtz for over 20 years. It is a strategy whose main tactic is deception from the underlying goals. This form of politics is dishonest to its very core and undermines our social contract requiring an honest debate. The truly frightening thing to see happening is the power of the image and the self-image completely overwhelming the reality of the devastation that is taking place. What Obama has demonstrated with both his campaign and his administration is that it matters not what policies you implement or laws you pass or your actual track record of achievement or lack thereof, to maintain mind control over the faithful, the image worshippers, and the self-gratifiers, but what you say and how you say it. Nevermind the complete lack of factual linkage between spoken word and deed. The man’s dishonesty is worn like a badge of honor amongst the fellow travelers and his success in attaining what he has proves the value of the tactics employed. Frightening.
