To defend a nation a la WWII, there was an America to defend; people inside of it who wanted freedom, believed in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Sorry, folks. We now have a nation not just divided by gay issues, abortion climate control. Those are small potatoes.
Unfortunately, this country is now divided at its foundation; whether we want a Republic as was instituted more than 200 years ago. Freedom of speech; the belief in the Bill of Rights are at issue, not just the meaning of words regarding the right to bear arms.
Do we want free market capitalism or socialism? Socialized medicine? Do we believe in the right to own property or should the state own the property? Do we believe in the tenets of Marxism? Redistribution of wealth or self reliance? The right to make as much money as one wants and keep it?
The sell out to socialism done by what once was a free press spread enough socialist, PC dogma that almost half the country truly believes in it; believes the ObamaCulture. Progressive socialism, Marxism or whatever you want to call it.
This is reality folks.
I hate to say it, but it needs to be said. Questions need to be asked.
Is the “United” part of the United States of America gone? If I blame the press and Barack Obama, a lot of people will agree; many will disagree, but I’m afraid that no longer matters.
I’m afraid we’ve experienced the transformation Obama kept on talking about, and we never really noticed. Street lights still blink green and red. Neighbors will say hi when they get their papers in the morning. There are still predictable tie ups on the Long Island Expressway. But something important’s been lost.
The lynchpins of our nation have been removed. Our basic beliefs. Lost. Half a nation isn’t a whole nation. Half a nation in 1861 couldn’t stand. It’s the same thing now I’m sorry to say.
This time, though, a civil war won’t heal the wounded countryside. There’s no Lincoln in the White House.
Lincoln said it.
A nation divided cannot stand.
I think Mr. Solway was right. Obama was in the wrong place at the wrong time. When Japan launched it sneak attack; when Muslims launched their sneak attack, there was a country worth defending; one united in freedom’s truth. That, I believe in no longer the case. The truth today is that there aren’t enough believers in the Constitution to constitute a nation.
If we were attacked tomorrow, the question in my mind would have to be, “is there anything left to defend?”
