I have to agree with the fact that if we had started on alternative fuels in the 70′s, we would be on our way to independence. Brazil is energy independent because they invested heavily in ethanol technology after the 70′s crisis. The export most of the oil they produce. They use sugar cane, but I am sure that after 30 years of research we could have a good alternative to corn, but alas we stopped trying once the price of gas came back down and our now 30 years behind the curve. You can complain all you want but the sad truth we are responsible for our current mess because we failed to plan for the future and bought all those gas guzzling cars. Was it any mystery to anyone that this crisis was coming? This should be a forum for discussion of information not slinging mud back and forth. We are all responsible for our actions and to fight back against strawman arguements with the facts not slurs. There are things that need to be done to move this country ahead and one of them is not fighting each other with half truths and lies.
