I wrote “a member of the family Einstein”. Sorry, you should know that the grandparents of Albert Einstein owned a house in Buchau(now Bad Buchau).
His father, Hermann Einstein was born in Buchau. I remember the house where these facts are noted. Baden-Württemberg was the home of many Einsteins, some related to Albert, some not. The man who was deported was Siegbert Einstein who was born in Buchau in 1889.He fought in World war I and he was awarded EK I and EK II (Eiserne Kreuz/Iron Cross). You see, the Eiserne Kreuz was not a Nazi but simply a military award. Herr Einstein was married to a Protestant woman and therefore a “privileged ” person. However, on February 21, 1945 he was deported to the KZ Theresienstadt.( Note: I wrote April 1, 1945. This seems to be wrong though I was so sure that I had read this fact because I was somehow very irritated. In the information I have lost it was written that he was deported together with two women who died after some days because of illness. Further I cannot confirm whether Herr Einstein was deported by train or by car. These information I have lost too). In short: Herr Einstein was deported on February 21, 1945 and returned to Buchau in June 1945(in some articles the date is May 45). He died in December 1968 and he is buried in Buchau(Jewish graveyard). Siegbert Einstein was a Großneffe(great nephew??) of Albert Einstein. More later on(I just returned home). Key words. Bad Buchau or Swabia usw.
