So once again, we are hearing the call for the US military to take up law enforcement activities… unless anyone thinks that NYPD should be deployed to Afghanistan? I thought not.
This seems to be a very scary precedent.
Consider that after Katrina there were MANY calls for the federal government to violate posse comitatis and deploy troops in New Orleans without the request of the state government.
The combination of these two supposedly reasonable positions leads to a slippery slope that I find truly unnerving.
Be careful what you wish for… the 3rd ID could handle the crime problem in DC and Chicago… but at what cost?
