Please stop bothering us with exotic-sounding Arabic words.
Most of the Arabic names used by would-be warriors are simply descriptive, and often refer to a person’s origin. Al-Masri means “the Egyptian”, al-Libi means “the Libyan”, etc.
Oh, and let’s stop pussyfooting about the name of Iran’s “Quds Brigades” (an elite unit within Iran’s Revolutionary Brigades, i.e. Waffen-SS). Al-Quds is the Arabic name of Jerusalem (also used as a loanword in Farsi).
The idea, of course, is that these brigades will achieve the “liberation” of Jerusalem that the Arabs have failed to achieve. This in turn would restore Shiite Iran to its supposed rightful place as the leader of global Islam under the aegis of the ayat-allahs (commonly spelt ayatollah).
