I keep hearing all the time from right wing bloggers how Obama performed an anti-American speech to suck up to the European commies.
But if that was his goal, he failed miserably at it. Most of the newspapers, and every German I´ve spoken to, have reported that Barak Obama came off as a true American. As a patriot who loves his country, and wants Europe to join him in the fight for its values. During his speech it became all too clear for America-sceptic Europeans that Obama was not the European they wanted him to be. But they was still exited that a possible American president spoke in their capital – one that does not pretend like Europe isn´t the economic superpower it is. (Oh, well, that last one was mine, but what the heck).
The reason why I stress this so much, is because it is important. It is simply not correct that Obama´s speech was written to suck up to the European commies. His advisors are not that stupid.
