Since we are being condescending, one has to only bypass your pointless posturing and overgrown self-importance to understand that you failed to grasp the fact that you’ve agreed with me.
From the dawn of man – through your advanced civilizations of antiquity up to the present one aspect of humanity remains constant. Regardless of the vastness of human innovation, our species is STILL, on a daily basis capable of commiting the most despicable crimes against each other. And by what premise do I NOT have the right to criticize our species for its failure to evolve? Do you propose that ANY of antiquties innovations excuses the brutality that is Darfur today? I hope not.
You referenced past advanced civilizations allowing children to marry. So? What was your point other than to say well look how advanced they were and they thought it ok? Did you take into account average life span? Did you take into account that arranged marriages took away the freedom of girls to decide whom to marry and when? Obviously you have a lovely little idllyic picture in your head of our forbears. I don’t. There is enough anthropological and historical evidence to support why.
That was then. This is today. Live in it. There are ages of consent for a reason, just as there is now a this new law in Maine. Why do YOU suppose?
Because the cultures of ancient civilizations were just as, if not more, predatory, brutal, greedy. The bells and whistles of each successive generation are nothing if the inner dysfuction of humanity remains the same. The changes in our laws are continuous. Unfortunately we are far from evolved enough and need jails protect us where religions have always failed.
Your second post just confirms what I’ve said in my initial reply. You could have saved time by just getting to the point.
