Chuck – If i have to the blatant lie that Bush lied one more time, I’m going to go postal. Feel free to argue the merits of the decision to go to war with Iraq, but there is absolutely no truth to the glib comment that Bush lied.
Republicans are having a hard time with their brand right now not due to Bush’s actions (in large part), but due mostly to their miserable performance in the house and the senate when they controlled them. The party as a whole abandoned the principles that it’s core supporters believe in. The base feels betrayed by the party. The RNC is going to have to clean house, get a coherent conservative message, and figure out a way to get that message out, since they don’t have access to the fifth column of the mainstream media to disseminate their positions like the democrats do.
With that said, that the polls are tracking so close right now is not a testament to McCain’s brilliance, but an indication of what a rotten candidate Obama is. Most of the American population can see through the con job that the media is foisting on them. The rest agree with him (Obama), and those you can never educate.
