I just don’t see that the motivation and desired outcomes are at all similar. There was little to indicate the marines were ever in any danger of being hanged, except for someone baselessly saying it is so. And his charge that that is what dictators do when war looms is entirely baseless as well. The regime of Saddam Hussein really didn’t resemble the government in Iran. Making the “dictator” connection is weak… two very different government and power structures.
