In the process of deciding lawful cases in which issues of gender equality arise, what is written in any Religious manual is and rightly should be, irrelevent in 2008 and in the US. Had the reverse still been true, one gender would still be the property of another.
Blather on all you wish if doing so may even make you feel necessary. However in a discussion about a topic most secular in nature, that of divorce and the dividing up of marriage assets and exposing a spouse for, in this case, the failure he is as a husband and father. The fact still remains, religion is ultimately irrelevant, outside of YOUR own mind.
On another point, your holy-rolling is truly utterly hypocritical. Doesn’t Christianity frown considerably on divorce, even considering it a sin? Yet aren’t you on your 2nd or 3rd marriage? Or is your religion a “pick and choose” which tenets you want to follow? On the other hand, I and my husband are still on our 1st married with no instance of major issue in sight – without even a 7 year itch between us, and surprisingly we are both non-believers.
So riddle us this, was it after the 1st or 2nd divorce that you found God?
