…but the anti-intellectual, lowbrow tone of this article disturbs me…Ignorance is not something on which to pride oneself.
You are putting down your fellow citizens and the author of this article just as Obama did. Peopel made the point that they don’t need higherup mandate to be forced to speak a second language is, according to you, ‘anti-intellectual’ and ‘proud of our ignorance’.
In the olden days, sailors at different port of calls can speak several lauguages, but I wouldn’t call them the height of intellectualism, either.
