To be honest, I think the thing that scares people the most about Yucca Mountain is the question of transporting the waste here. Most people are not concerned about what will happen once it’s gone underground. For those of you who don’t know, Yucca Mountain is a big hole in the ground where nuclear weapons were tested up until a few years ago.
And you are right, we do not get the electricity generated from the dam. I remember when I first came to Nevada in 1980, we had the lowest cost of living, especially utilities in the country. Boy, that has sure changed!
