I’m not that fond of McCain the politician. His relentless searching for Sista Souljah moments has is natural allies wary at best, and his ego seems to play a larger part in policy decisions than any sort of ideology.
But I doubt there are many men who could do what he did in Hanoi. That requires a strength of character which is really very rare. I doubt I would have been able to refuse release from a place like that.
