The sickness of Western thought is irrationality. As a Ph.D. physicist, I see this with discussions of science. E.g., a black hole is a place where nothing can escape. Yet nothing can get there, due to the slowing of time in the large gravitational field, and so saying nothing can escape is irrational.

Muslim teaching is rote memory, questioning not permitted. This is irrational. Rational thinking has two parts. One is a clear statement of the principles and logical conclusions. The other is empirical verification. If evidence contradict the principles, we modify the principles. See the new book, Rational Thinking, Government Policies, Science, and Living.

CRA: Banks must give cheap mortgages to poor people. This is irrational, an they cannot do this and stay in business.
