Intellectualizing any followers of Islam to a degree significant enough for any meaningful “Reformation” of Islam is truly a “fools errand”. After becoming superfluous to trade in the 15th century with the loss of power and wealth this entailed the Middle East and Western Orient suspended it’s strong efforts at expansion. Due to Oil wealth and other factors Islam is on the march again. Islam has been at war with All who are not,to some degree for 1400 years.The only respite the West has enjoyed has been when the Moslems fight amongst themselves for the right to lead the battle against us. Either they and their barbaric ideology will be defeated or our western values will. The sooner we recognize these facts the better for our chances of survival.
